Don't use Quranic verses to cling to power, PAS told

GUA MUSANG: The Kelantan

PAS government should not use Quranic verses to stay in power as it has failed to bring development to the state.

Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said

the people needed development to improve their life and not be indoctrinated by Quranic verses and hadis

that the Barisan Nasional government was unIslamic.

"The Barisan government plans and implement projects for the people's benefit. We don't crow while the people suffer from lack of employment.

"Don't be fooled by talks using Quran verses and hadis

that Barisan is unIslamic for cooperating with MCA," he told reporters in Kampung Lepan Jaya here Thursday.

Shafie said the people should know what was interpreted was inaccurate as in the religion's context, the people should come first.

On housing, he said the people's housing projects should not be politicised as the federal governnment was just helping the poor to own houses.

The federal government recently announced an allocation of RM180mil to build 1,500 houses under in Gua Musang for the benefit of 10,000 poor people.

Shafie said

the people could judge whether Barisan government was cruel

as claimed and compare it with the PAS government.

"Did they build schools and hospitals? No. They only put up PAS flags all over the place including hilltops," he added. - Bernama
