Summary: Want to edit P2HD .mxf videos from Panasonic AG-HPX600 with Sony Vegas Pro? Can you successfully put these files to Vegas Pro? Have you known some tips for importing .MXF files to Vegas Pro? Simply follow this post, you will be clear.

Just got Panasonic’s new P2HD camcorder AG-HPX600 for days. I like the HD cam very much with its 4:2:2 AVC-Intra recording. It is belong to new series of memory cards called microP2 card ( Awesome! ), which have an SD card form factor to further cost-efficiencies in media pricing. But I was disappointed I couldn’t directly get PX600 AVC-Intra MXF to my Sony Vegas for further editing. So, I wanted to know is there a way to make HPX600 footages compatible for Vegas Pro?

At first, I tried to download and use several P2 MXF plug-ins to help me bring the file to Vegas, but I failed. Fortunately, I did find an easy optional method to import HPX600 files to Vegas. That is to convert Panasonic P2 MXF to MPEG-2, a highly compatible format for Sony Vegas with a third-party software..

I’ve got a professional MXF to Sony Vegas Converter on my computer, which can transcode the unsupported AVC-Intra MXF file to an ideal editing format e.g. MPEG-2 or WMV for Vegas Pro keeping the original video quality. If you are facing the situation likewise, follow the steps below I share with you.

How to convert HPX600 AVC-Intra to MPEG-2 format for Vegas

Step 1. Install and run the excellent P2 AVC-Intra to Vegas Pro Converter , and click “Add files” to import files from HPX600 P2 card > CONTENTS> VIDEO.

Tip: The program not only can help you transocde Panasonic MXF files, also can re-format Canon/Sony MXF files.

Step 2. Choose the MPEG-2(*.mpg) from “Format> Adobe Premiere/Sony Vegas” menu as the best format.

Tip: If necessary, you can click “settings” to freely set them profile settings, including the video size, video frame rate, audio channel, etc.

Step 3. Click “Convert” button to start transcoding Panasonic HPX600 MXF video to MPEG-2.

As soon as the conversion is over, you can perfectly import the converted files to Vegas Pro 9/10/11/12 for editing without any error. Just freely editing and enjoy your movies.
