How to Get Panasonic GH3 footage into Final Cut Pro 7/X

Panasonic DMC-GH3 is a popular Full HD camera that provides users with multiple output formats. But the most popular fomrat is AVCHD 2.0, which is an advanced video format with 1080 60p for Sony and Panasonic cams. However, it is also an un-standard format for almost video editing Software, including Final Cut Pro. It is claimed that FCP X 10.0.4 or above can support it sometimes, but some problems still occurred from time to time. If your Final Cut Pro seems cannot ingest the 60p files from GH3 well, how do you handle it?
In fact, import 60p AVCHD to FCP is not a tricky process. If you use one professional AVCHD to FCP Converter to transcode AVCHD to Apple ProRes losslessly and then import to FCP 6/7 and FCP X, you are able to edit the video smoothly. Step 1: Get the top MTS Converter for FCP, then start it to import your Panasonic GH3 .mts/.m2ts files it. Check off the “Merge into one” box to combine your MTS files together if necessary.
Step 2: Tap the Format icon; from the dropdown menu select Final Cut Pro > Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) (*.mov) as the target format. Of course, the ProRes 422, ProRes 422 (LT), ProRes 422 (Proxy) and ProRes 4444 are also the right choice for FCP 7 and FCP X.
Step 3: Click the “Settings” icon and you’d better set the video frame rate as 30fps, video size as 1920*1080 for editing GH3 footages in FCP with the best quality.
Step 4: Hit the “Convert” button; it will start to transcode Panasonic GH3 AVCHD to ProRes for FCP on Mac OS X immediately.
After the 60p AVCHD to ProRes conversion, you can import converted files to FCP, just click and choose File >> Import >> Files, and then you can load your video files to FCP for easy editing.
